NINJUTSU AND NINJAS : THE ART OF STEALTH AND COLD BLOOD KILLERS WERE TRAINED BY THE PANDIYAS. THE ART OF ESPINOGE AND THE HISTORY OF CHEMBU LINGAM NADAR

NINJUTSU - THE ART OF THE NINJAS; THE ART OF STEALTH

If you, the person who is reading this blog right now, if you are a person who was and is always interested in the world of Martial Arts, then it is for sure that you would have heard at the least about the art of "Cold Blood Killers" who could kill a minimum of 10 people at the same time, just by using their traditional weapons.

YES, even if you are standing against them with a gun, they are NOT that kind of warriors who fear you...

If you are holding a gun at their head-point, that would be a kind of Sports Day for them..

YES... I AM TALKING ABOUT THOSE REALLY DIRTY AND NASTY WARRIORS OF OLD...THE NINJAS.

THERE IS NOT A PERSON ON THIS EARTH, WHO WOULD NOT FEAR TO FIGHT AGAINST A NINJA.

EVEN THE SAMURAI WARRIORS OF JAPAN, HIRED THE NINJAS FOR THEIR WORK.

AND THE BEST PART WAS: ONE SINGLE NINJA COULD HANDLE 5 SAMURAI WARRIORS AND DESTROY THEM.

YES...!!!! THAT'S THE TRAINING OF A NINJA.

Before, I go into detail about the History, the Founder and The art of Ninjutsu itself, I would like to give you readers a basic outline of The Ninja Training Module.

Daisuke Nishina (Togakure Ryu founder), who was the original founder of this art, was originally a Samurai Warrior.

After the Japanese Genpei War at 1182, at the end of Heian period, Minamoto no Yoshinaka, a general from the mountainous Nagano region of Japan, captured the Central City of Kyoto.
After this victory, he found himself under attack by his cousin Yoshitsune. When Yoshitsune's troop successfully crossed the Uji river (a key strategic defense for the capital), Yoshinaka withdrew only to be killed, as his horse fell through the ice of a frozen rice paddy.

After Yoshinaka's defeat, his Samurai warrior, Daisuke, of Togakure Village fled to the mountains of Iga in Central Japan.

Coming back to the point. There are 18 tactics in which the Ninjas are trained. They are:

  1. BAJUTSU - Horsemanship
  2. BOJUTSU - Stick and Staff Techniques
  3. BORYAKU - Tactics
  4. CHI - MON - Geography
  5. CHOHO - Espionage
  6. HENSOJUTSU - Disguise and Impersonation
  7. INTONJUTSU - Escaping and Concealment
  8. KAYAKUJUTSU - Pyrotechniques
  9. KENJUTSU - Sword Techniques
  10. KUSARIGAMAJUTSU - Chain - Sickle Techniques
  11. NAGINATAJUTSU - Polearm Techniques
  12. SEISHINTEKI KYOYO - Spiritual Refinement \
  13. SHINOBI - IRI - Stealth and Infiltration
  14. SHURIKENJUTSU - Throwing Weapons Techniques
  15. SOJUTSU - Spear Techniques
  16. SUI-REN - Water Training
  17. TAIJUTSU - Unarmed Combat
  18. TENMON - Meterology

When Daisuke Nishina fled to the Iga region there he was trained for SURVIVAL AGAINST ENEMIES by the Pandiyan Soldiers who were hired by the Kamakura Shogun who ruled the Iga region in order to fight for them.

When a friend of mine was explaining to me, as to how the Martial Arts in China and Japan, were basically developed from Kuthu Varisai, Adi Murai and Silambam, I was sceptical about the point he put forth to me.

BUT.... WHEN I DECIDED TO MAKE A STUDY ON THESE ARTS, I WAS CONVINCED.

Here are some of the main factors that made me and still makes me to believe that this Ninjutsu was developed by the Japanese with Kuthu Varisai, Adi Murai and Silambam as the base Martial arts will be dealt in the next few lines.

Basically, Kuthu Varisai and Adi Murai are empty hand fighting Systems said to be developed by Sage Agathiyar and the other 17 Siddhars who belong to Tamil Nadu.

Silambam, in the other hand is a Weapon based Martial Art, practiced in Tamil Nadu, which has got many lethal and unique weapons not found anywhere else in the world.

Coming Back to why I was convinced that Ninjutsu was developed from these arts and that the Ninjas were trained by the Pandiyan Soldiers is that,

NINJUTSU -- IS BASICALLY AN ART OF ESPIONAGE THAN A FIGHT.

For Ninjas, more than cold blood killing, it was their duty to collect the information about a particular incidence that their Samurai Lords command them.

REMEMBER, ONE NINJA CAN KILL ATLEAST 5 SAMURAIS AT A TIME, BUT-- THE NINJAS WERE HIRED BY THE SAMURAIS TO FIRST COLLECT INFORMATION ABOUT AN INCIDENT AND THEN, IF NEED BE THEY COMMAND THOSE NINJAS TO KILL THE ACCUSED (ONLY AT NIGHT) IN ORDER TO CONCEAL A MATTER.

So, how did these people, THE BLACK DEVILS -- THE NINJAS, learn to Espionage and Collect Information for their Samurai Lords...???

HAS ANYONE THOUGHT OF THIS BEFORE...????

WHERE IS THE KNOWLEDGE OF ESPIONAGE IN THE WORLD OTHER THAN IN JAPAN RIGHT NOW...????

THIS WAS THE QUESTION THAT STRUCK ME, WHEN I CAME TO KNOW ABOUT THE ART OF THE NINJA AND NINJUTSU.

IF MY FRIEND'S CLAIM THAT THE PANDIYAS WERE THE ONES WHO TRAINED THE DEFEATED SAMURAI (FOUNDER OF NINJA) IS TRUE, THEN IT SHOULD BE THAT THE SAME PANDIYAS WOULD HAVE BEEN THE PEOPLE WHO WOULD HAVE TAUGHT THE ART OF ESPIONAGE TO THESE NINJAS... RIGHT...????

IF NOT, THE CLAIM THAT THESE NINJAS WERE TRAINED BY THE PANDIYAN WARRIORS WOULD BE A BOGUS OR FALSE CLAIM.

THIS THOUGHT BROUGHT ME TO LEARN SOMETHING ABOUT THE ANCIENT MILITARY TACTICS OF THE PANDIYAS.

Not only that, if the Ninjas - The Black Devils - ARE STILL THE DEADLIEST WARRIORS TODAY - then it should also be that The Pandiyas should be deadly warriors, else, the claim that Ninjas were trained by the Pandiyan Soldiers could be wrond.

IT WAS ONLY THEN THAT I DISCOVERED CERTAIN HIDDEN FACTS ABOUT THE PANDIYAS.

ALTHOUGH BEING BORN AND BROUGHT UP IN TAMIL NADU, I HAD YET TO DISCOVER THESE SECRETS - ESPECIALLY BEING FROM MADURAI -- I DID NOT KNOW THAT SUCH A PERSON EXISTED -- WHO STILL TEACHES SUCH AN AMAZING ART---

(More on the above statement in a few lines from now).

Well, coming back to the Pandiyan Kingdom, we MUST first be educated that India, IS NOT A COUNTRY -- INDIA IS A SUB - CONTINENT--

Before India was united with the 26 states, each state was a separate country.

IT WAS ONLY THE BRITISH RULERS WHO UNIFIED THESE 26 COUNTRIES INTO ONE SINGLE COUNTRY CALLED INDIA.

THE PANDIYAN KINGDOM, KNOWN AS TAMIL KINGDOM WAS POPULARLY KNOWN AS THE KINGDOM OF THE SOUTH -- IT WAS A SEPARATE KINGDOM.

THE PANDIYAN KINGDOM CONSISTED OF PRESENT DAY TAMIL NADU, PRESENT DAY KERALA, PRESENT DAY SOUTH ANDHRA (EXCLUDING TELANGANA, WHICH WAS THE ONLY ORIGINAL TELUGU COUNTRY) AND TULUNADNU AND SOUTH REGIONS OF KARNATAKA.  -- THIS WAS THE PANDIYAN KINGDOM--

Before the Britishers Divided India, there was NO KERALA, NO ANDHRA (EXCLUDING TELANGANA) AND MYSORE, BANGALORE AND TULUNADU REGIONS BELONGED TO THE TAMILS.

POINT NO 1: STRONG MILITARY FORCE

Coming to the Main Point, the most important point that struck my eyes on the History of the Pandiyan Kingdom was this one.

In the left map, you can see the Mauryan Empire of Ashoka the Great.

IT IS REALLY SUCH A WONDER TO SEE, HOW THIS GREAT KING ASHOKA WHO HAD CAPTURED THE WHOLE OF PAKISTAN, NORTH INDIA AND CENTRAL INDIA WAS UNABLE EVEN TO TOUCH THE BORDERS OF THE SOUTH KINGDOM.

YES... THE SOUTH KINGDOM IS THE PANDIYAN KINGDOM.

YES... IT IS NO DOUBT THAT THE PANDOIYAS MILITARY FORCES WERE SUCH FIERCE AND BRAVE WARRIORS WHO HAVE DEFEATED NOT ONLY THE ARMY OF ASHOKA THE GREAT, BUT THE PANDIYAS ALSO DEFEATED ASHOKA THE GREAAT'S EXTENDED ARMY (THE PEOPLE OF PAKISTAN, NORTH INDIA AND CENTRAL INDIA COMBINED TOGETHER)

THIS IS BECAUSE OF A STRONG AND ESTABLISHED MILITARY FORCE OF THE SOUTH KINGDOM

IT IS NO DOUBT ABOUT THE FACT THAT THE PANDIYAS WERE AND STILL ARE THE FIERCEST WARRIORS. NO DOUBT ABOUT THAT

POINT NO 2: SAME WEAPONS

The second point that makes me believe that the Ninjas were trined by the Pandiyan warriors is that, the similar weapons that are used by the Pandiyan Warriors are also used by the Ninja Warriors.

The throwing star of the Ninjas, known as Shuriken IS from the ThiGiRi weapon of Silambam (A Martial Art of the Tamils)

Tamil Literatures that date back to about 500 BC also speak about this weapon called ThiGiRi, which was adopted by the Ninjas only after 1182AD.

The picture to the left shows a ThiGiRi thrown on a tree.

There are ThiGiRis of different sizes and shapes as seen in the next picture below.

The Thigiri shown below is still used today. These weapons are lethal in nature.

DON'T PLAY WITH THIS WEAPONS -- IT CAN CUT YOUR NECK AND HEAD APART--

This weapon was later adopted by the Sikh Warriors when the whole of India was united to fight against the British Rulers.

They learnt this art from the Tamils and incorporated it into their traditional martial art called Gatka,

A small video which reveals the connection between the Tamils and the Sikhs

Thus, the weapons used by the Ninjas were and still are used only by the Tamils parallel.

A short note from the Tamil Literature of 500BC that describes this art "Puranaanooru"

Thus, it is evident that the Pandiyan Soldiers were the ones who trained the Ninjas.

THERE ARE MANY CHAIN WEAPONS USED IN SILAMBAM, WHICH ARE QUITE SIMILAR TO THOSE CHAIN WEAPONS USED BY THE NINJA WARRIORS.

KINDLY GOOGLE SEARCH "CHANGILI KATTAI", "CHAIN WEAPON USED IN SILAMBAM MARTIAL ART" TO KNOW MORE, AS I CAN'T PUT THE WHOLE THING TOGETHER HERE.

EVEN THE ART OF JAPANESE BO-JUTSU IS FROM SILAMBAM.

YOUCAN FIND THE DETAILS FROM VIDEOS ON YOUTUBE OR MY FOLLOWING BLOG POSTS.

POINT NO 3: PRESSURE POINT ATTACK SYSTEM

Unlike in most other Martial Arts, just like Kuthu Varisai, Adi Murai and Silambam -- Ninjutsu gives importance in its Empty Hand Fighting System to Pressure Point attacks.

Varma Ati
In Tamil, it is called Varma Ati and in Japanese the concept is called Kyusho Jutsu.

Both Varma Ati and Kyusho Jutsu describes 108 vital spots in the Human Body. (Not the other arts of Kalaripayattu and Angampora that describe only 107 vital spots. That is a totally different art)

The Varma Ati art teaches how to strike and in which angle to strike each and every of these 108 Varma points, even so is the Japanese System of Kyusho Jutsu.

In Varma Ati, there is a concept called Amirtha Nilai Varma Ati. This explains the effectiveness of striking the vital spots based on the lunar movements (movement of the moon) as the vital spots keep moving in our body in X direction from head to toe. Similar concept in Kyusho Jutsu is the Atemi Waza which explains the same.

Thus, it is evident that the art of Pressure Points also were taught by The Pandiyan Warriors to the Ninja Warriors

POINT NO 4: THE ART OF ESPIONAGE

Last, but not the least -- THE ART OF ESPIONAGE -- was also taught to the Ninjas by the Pandiyas.

Chembulingam Nadar
The guy you see on the left, he is called Chembulingam Nadar. Known as the Country Robin Hood in Tirunelveli district.

A native of the Tenkasi Taluk, Tirunelveli district (which was the first capital of the Pandiyan Kingdom) before Madurai.

There is more for me to say about Chembulingam Nadar, than this blog can contain.

Unlike other Pandiyan warriors like Marudhu Pandiyar, Veera Pandiya Kattabomman, Puli Thevar and Oomai Durai who opposed the British rule with their Bravery and Open Face to Face against the Britishers,

THE APPROACH OF CHEMBULINGAM NADAR WAS TOTALLY DIFFERENT.

CHEMBULINGAM NADAR DEALT WITH THE BRITISHERS WITH HIS BRAIN, NOT BRAVERY, WHICH BROUGHT THE DOWNFALL OF THE STRONGHOLD OF THE BRITISHERS IN THE PANDIYAN KINGDOM.

CHEMBULINGAM, WAS A REALLY TOUGH GAME FOR THE BRITISHERS.

Similar to what you hear about the Ninjas, as to they walk with you like common man, act like your friennd, get details from you - about you - your friends and finally DO THEIR JOB = KILL YOU.

Chembulingam was a man "WHO STOLE THE RICH AND FED THE POOR"

Similarly, I know one incident about Chembulingam, who had challenged the British Soldiers and local Police that he was going to go to a particular rich mans house on a particular day at a fixed time and going to take away the Gold and Money from His House.

AFTER GETTING THE NEWS, THE SECURITY PERSONNEL - THE SOLDIERS WERE VERY ATTENTIVE AND THE RICH MAN WAS INFORMED ABOUT THAT, HE WAS IMMEDIATELY RESPONSIVE TO PROTECT HIS HOUSE AND THERE WERE A LOT OF SOLDIERS WAITING TO CATCH AND TAKE HOLD OF CHEMBULINGAM NADAR ON THAT DAY (AS HE HAD PERFORMED MANY SUCH ACTS BEFORE, AND HAD ESCAPED, THEY WERE VERY ATTENTIVE TO CATCH HIM WITH THIS OPPORTUNITY)

It was almost the time the Chembulingam has told that He is going to steal the rich mans house.

NOTHING SEEMED TO BE CHANGING -- NO ONE EVEN CAME NEAR THE HOUSE--

AT THE CORRECT SET TIME, OF WHICH CHEMBULINGAM HAD INFORMED THE SOLDIERS, THERE WAS A SENIOR MILITARY OFFICER WHO CAME WITH HIS TROOP AND CHECKED THE HOUSE OF THAT RICH MAN FULLY, AND COMMANDING THE OTHER PERSONNELS TO TAKE KEEN CARE OF THE HOUSE, LEFT THE RICH MANS HOUSE, BY GIVING CHARGE TO THE SECURITIES, ALONG WITH HIS TROOP.

It was now the time past, the appointed time that Chembulingam had informed the Soldiers, who thought that he was afraid of so many security personnel and did not come to the rich man's place to steal..

BUT, after about 1/2 hour the security personnel at the rich mans house received a message saying that Chembulingam had stolen the Gold and Money from the Rich Mans House - to which the police personnel objected saying -- NO ONE CAME HERE, NO ONE WENT INSIDE BEYOND US --

To which Chembulingam reported saying, "I was the Officer who came and gave you charge at the set time and My troop was the one who went inside the Rich Man's house and looted his Gold and Money" to which the Security Personnel went in and checked -- and to Their astonishment -- they were stolen.

THIS ART OF ESPIONAGE IS STILL PRACTICED EXTENSIVELY IN TAMIL NADU.

I THINK PEOPLE WOULD ALREADY KNOW THAT THE TAMIL NADU POLICE FORCE TODAY IS THE SECOND BEST IN THE WORLD AFTER SCOTLAND POLICE IN COLLECTING INFORMATION AND IDENTIFYING THE CRIMINALS.

Thus, I conclude that the Art of Ninjutsu and the Cold Blood Killers called Ninjas were originally trained by the Pandiyas of the South.

There is also an Art in India, similar to Ninjutsu practiced today called "JANYA KALA"

IF PEOPLE WOULD LIKE TO CHALLENGE THE AUTHENTICITY OF THE ABOVE SAID CLAIMS,

--WE DO NOT OBJECT ANYONE, YOU CAN SEND AN INVITATION FOR US TO COME TO YOUR HOME TOWN FOR A KNOCK OUT MATCH, OR YOU MAY FREELY COME HERE FOR A KNOCK OUT MATCH AGAINST US --

WARNING:

BUT -- YOU MUST SIGN AN AGREEMENT STATING THAT WE WOULD NOT BE RESPONSIBLE IF YOU PEOPLE DIE IN THE MATCH

THOSE WHO HAVE THE GUTS....SEND YOUR QUERIES TO MANJA VARMAKKALAI, MADURAI.

THE MANJA VARMAKKALAI TEAM IN MADURAI AND CHENNAI HAVE ALREADY BEEN BANNED BY THE MMA TEAMS AND OTHER BOXING, KICKBOXING, WRESTLING AND SPORTS TEAMS IN INDIA -- DECLARING THAT THEY ARE TOO BRUTAL--

PEOPLE, EVEN NINJAS AND OTHER NINJUTSU PRACTITIONERS CAN COME  AND CHECK OUR AUTHENTICITY.

Regards....

PRESSURE POINT MARTIAL ARTS: VARMA KALAI (TAMIL NADU), MARMAM (KERALA AND SRI LANKA), KYUSHO JUTSU (JAPAN), DIM MAK (CHINA), SYSTEMA (RUSSIA) - WHICH IS THE BEST...???

The only form of Martial Arts that has caught the attention of the whole world right now...!!! is none other than the Pressure Point Fighting arts.

Some of the pressure point fighting arts that are currently available today are:

  1. Varma Kalai from Tamil Nadu
  2. Marma of Kalaripayattu, Kerala and Maru Kala of Angampora, Sri Lanka
  3. Kyusho Jutsu of Japan
  4. Dim Mak of China
  5. Kyusho of the Filipinos, another variation of Japanese Kyusho Jutsu
As I had said in my earlier posts, in India, there are two different traditions of pressure points. The one is based on Siddha Medical System and the other is based on Ayurvedic Medical System.

COMING BACK to which Pressure Point art is more lethal and deadly, we are going to go through a series of study on each of these pressure point arts.

Firstly, when people think about Martial Arts, the countries that come to their minds are
  1. China and
  2. Japan
Well, both these countries have got two distinct features of Pressure Points arts called Dim Mak in China and Kyusho Jutsu in Japan

SOME PEOPLE GET IT WRONG THINKING ALL PRESSURE POINT ARTS ARE THE SAME.

IN FACT I AM GOING TO OUTLINE TO YOU THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE DIM MAK OF CHINA AND KYUSHO JUTSU OF JAPAN NOW.

Here are some of the glaring differences between Dim Mak and Kyusho Jutsu

DIM MAK OF CHINA
KYUSHO JUTSU OF JAPAN
Dim mak is about striking the blood vessels in the human body, which causes blood clot in the internal organs , which results in ddelayed death
Kyusho Jutsu is a martial art associated with striking the nerve junctions, causing nerve dysfunction and unconsciousness, but not death
Dim Mak does not react immediately. A person hit on the Dim Mak points can feel the pain only after some amount of time, and then feels execruiting pain
Kyusho Jutsu reacts immediately. When a Kyusho practitioner hits a target person, the target feels the pain immediately, and after some time the victim gets all right by huim/herself
A person hit on the Dim Mak point will feel nausea, cold sweat, skin discoloration and blood clots. That is to say, visible marks of being a victim can be easily visualized within some time.
A person struck on a Kyusho point will feel execruiting pain instantly and immediately when struck. But there would be no visible sysmptoms of being hit in his vital spots
A person struck on Dim Mak point, when he is lifted to revive, he cannot as his blood pressure drops down quickly
A person struck on a Kyusho point can get up himself. There are no side effects, but the art is safe and sound
When struck on a Dim Mak point, the person feels the pain for a week or two till he gets recovered
When struck on a Kyusho point, the pain that the victim receives gets back to normal within a few minutes
When a Dim Mak practitioner strikes the target in a Dim Mak point, the Dim Mak master has to release another point in order to revive the victim
Whena Kyusho point is struck, the victim or target can revive himself by sticffening the muscles and loosening the joints in a reflex
When a Dim Mak point is struck, there is actually no response from the victim for a few seconds, then he starts to vomit, cannot speak etc., depending on which point is struck
In Kyusho, there is an immediate response from the victim’s part like falling, stiffening of the body parts, jumps and falls on the ground etc.
These are some of the glaring differences between Dim Mak of China and Kyusho Jutsu of Japan.

Next, we are going to consider the difference between the Varma Kalai of Tamil Nadu and Marma of Kalari and Maru Kala of Sri Lanka.

Basically, both Northern Kalari Marma and Sri Lankan Maru Kala are the same; while, on the other hand, the Varma Kalai of Tamil Nadu is known as Thekkan Kalari, based on Siddha Medical System.

Here are some of the glaring differences between Varma Kalai and Maru Kala or Marma.

Punch into Google Search:
SIDDHA VARMA KALAI VS AYURVEDIC MARMA KALA

I would not like to repeat an already written article. So, I think it would be worth for you to take a look at that article separately.

There are a lot of differences between the Siddha Tradition of Varma Kalai and the Ayurvedic Tradition of Marma.

One Main difference is that the Siddha tradition gives importance to both  Martial Art aspect as well as healing aspects, while the Ayurvedic tradition is only treatment oriented and less emphasis is given to Martial Arts applications.

FILIPINO KYUSHO:

Coming to the Filipino Arts, the Filipino Kyusho system is an effective system for the modern user. Developed by Grand Master Angelo Baldissone with over 45 years of experience in many different types of martial Arts like Kung Fu, Karate, Kyusho Jutsu, Dim Mak, Panantukan, Italian Knife etc, the core concepts of these martial arts were taken along with the body movements and mechanics to escape an attacker with the right kind of footwork and hit at the enemy's vital spots.

Based primarily on Kyusho Jutsu, the Filipino Kyusho system has an immediate impact on the victim, but the victim can revive himself after a few minutes. This is a street effective Martial Art.

SYSTEMA FROM RUSSIA:

Systema is a Russian Martial Art based on Empty Hand Fighting Skills. It focusses on hitting the target's pressure points for getting the desired results.

Systema can be called as a SPORTS VERSION of the Real Kyusho Fighting.

SYSTEMA IS LETHAL, BUT NOT DEADLY.

This art is used by the Russian Special Forces to train their Armed Forces in Hand to Hand close quarter combat.

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN VARMA KALAI AND MARMA / MARU KALA:

In Varma Kalai of siddhar Tradition the main emphasis is on empty hand fighting systems.

The Varma Kalai Martial Art is divided into two different components. They are
  1. Kuthu Varisai and
  2. Adi Murai
They are also sometimes called Varma Kuthu Varisai and Varma Adimurai.

There are different stages of training in these arts. They are as follows
  1. Sports component called ADITHADI or ADITHADA.
  2. Weapons based art called VARMA SILAMBAM AND VARMA VAAZH
  3. DEADLY PRESSURE POINT ART - VARMA ATI
In the Sports component called ADITHADI, strong emphasis is given to a lethal and practical Unarmed Combat application.
The student first learns all aspects of striking, grappling and counters.
It resembles a combination of Muay Boran, Pankration, Vale Tudo, Kickboxing and Systema.

The lessons they follow are:
Kuthu Varisai (Striking Sequences): Hand Fighting Methods, Leg Fighting Methods and Headbutts
Thadu Varisai (Blocking Sequence): Blocking with Hands, Blocking with Legs, Blocking with Head
Pidi Varisai (Grappling Sequence): Locks, Counter Locks and Throws

Adi Varisai (Attacking Sequence):
Adi Varisai is the final stage of Adithadi, It teaches Striking, Counters and Grappling as a combination.
Almost every part of the body is used and every move uses the whole body (kinetic linking) to achieve maximum power from the practitioners strike, locks and counters.
Adi Varisai has got 3 variations for every strike, grip and counters in their arsenal and 12 angles, and once these techniques are learnt, the practitioner only has to use them in different combinations to come up with an unlimited number of attacks and defenses

Surul Vaazh with 1 Blade
In their Weapon based component, very few but lethal weapons are used.
The primary importance is given to a long stick and Spring Sword.

The Weapons used here are:

Long Stick
Short Stick
Knife
Machete
Sword
Spring / Flexible Sword

Surul Vaazh with 2 and 3 Blades
The lessons for all of these weapons include:
Ayudha Varisai - Sequence of weaponry
Kaaladi - Footworks
Sandai Paada Murai - Fighting against a single, skilled opponent with weapons
Padai Veechu - Fighting against multiple attackers

Amongst all the above mentioned weapons

THE FLEXIBLE SWORD WAS THE MOST LETHAL WEAPON, THAT IS STILL TODAY NOT USED IN ANY OTHER MARTIAL ARTS, EXCEPT FOR SILAMBAM AND ADI MURAI.

THIS LETHAL WEAPON WAS LATER ADOPTED BY THE KALARIPAYATTU PRACTITIONERS IN KERALA AND ANGAMPORA PRACTITIONERS IN SRI LANKA

THE ANCIENT ORIGIN OF THIS WEAPON AND IS USAGE ORIGINALLY BELONGS TO THE TRADITION OF THE TAMILS.

IT WAS ONLY 60 YEARS BACK THIS WEAPONS WAS ADOPTED BY KALARIPAYATTU AND ANGAMPORA.

In the Pressure Point Attack method called VARMA ATI, the student comes to know about the 108 vital points on the human body,
Varma Ati teaches the student locations, angles of attack, modified striking techniques to yuse on the 108 Varmam points and also teaches some revival techniques called "Adangal maruthuvam"

Lessons include
Finger Positions
Centers
Attacks: Lethal Points, Common Points
Revivals: Revival at Centers, Common Revivals
Kuthu Kattai: A small stick slightly greater than the width of the practitioners palm, can cause devastating effects when used with the knowledge of Varma Ati.

Amirtha Nilai - Varma Ati

This concept explains the effectiveness of attack on Varmam depends on the lunar movement. The Varma point keeps moving from toe to head and vice-versa with the movement of moon. The movement will be of X shape. The vital Varma points and the poison will travel in the opposite direction. Such effective points of each day are known as the Amrithanila.

THE WEAKNESS OF AYRVEDIC MARMA MARTIAL ART:

As I have said before, the Ayurvedic Tradition of Marma Martial Art as practiced by Northern Style Kalaripayattu practitioners of Kerala and Angampora Martial Artists of Sri Lanka are that though they use the art of pressure point strike, they miss some of the key elements in their martial art combat. They are:
  1. Amirtha Nilai Varma Ati
  2. Kuthu Kattai lessons
  3. Using the Internal Energy for Knock outs
These 3 major elements that are widely and importantly used in the Siddha Tradition of Varma Kalai arts are found to be missing in the Ayurvedic Tradition of Marma Martial Art.

Some Kalaripayattu practitioners learn both Varma Kalai of Tamil Nadu and Kalaripayattu and have incorporated these elements into their teachings.

WANT TO LEARN THE MOST EFFECTIVE PRESSURE POINT MARTIAL ART...????

IT IS NONE OTHER THAN THE SIDDHAR TRADITION OF VARMA KALAI...!!!!

I have written extensively on Pressure Point arts in this post to cover the whole topic.

People are more obsessed about learning Dim Mak or Kyusho Jutsu.

I have also given you about the difference between Dim Mak and Kyusho Jutsu.

BUT...., VARMA KALAI OF TAMIL NADU IS THE MOTHER MARTIAL ART OF BOTH KYUSHO JUTSU AND DIM MAK...!!!!

A BOLD CLAIM...????

YES...!!!!! A BOLD CLAIM

In Varma Kalai, when the varma point is struck by a master, the victim or in this case, the student gets immediate reaction, or the Varma Kalai has got instant reaction on him.

BUT WAIT...... IT'S NOT LIKE KYUSHO, WHERE A STUDENT CAN GET UP AND WALK ALRIGHT WITHIN SECONDS....

IF THE VARMA KALAI AASAAN DOES NOT REVIVE THE STUDENT USING ADANGAL METHOD OF THIRAVUKOL METHOD, THERE IS A CHANCE FOR THE STUDENT TO DIE WITHIN A FEW HOURS.

Varma Kalai is NOT like Dim Mak also, where the victim gets only delayed effects. In Dim Mak, the student gets delayed symptoms and delayed death.

BUT, IN VARMA KALAI, NOT ONLY IS THE EFFECT IMMEDIATE, THE SYMPTOMS LIKE BLOOD CLOT APPEARS IMMEDIATELY AND DEATH IS A LITTLE DELAYED... UNLIKE DIM MAK WHICH TAKES HOURS TO TAKE AWAY THE LIFE OF THE OPPONENT... BUT, WITHIN TWO HOURS IF THE STUDENT IS NOT REVIVED BY THE MASTER, THE STUDENT WOULD DIE AFTER TWO HOURS.

SUCH IS THE POWER OF THIS MOST ANCIENT 50,000 YEAR OLD TRADTION OF THE SIDDHARS OF TAMIL NADU

Now, let us see some of the similarities of Varma Kalai and Dim Mak Martial Arts
VARMA KALAI
DIM MAK
Varma Kalai describes 108 vital spots in the Human Body
Dim Mak also describes the same 108 vital spots on the Human Body
Varma Kalai makes use of Amirtha Nilai (Nectar placement) to hit the vital spots to get maximum effects
Dim Mak maskes use of the Meridian Attack system to get maximum result for striking the Dim Mak point
There are 10 channels in the Human body at which all these 108 Varma points are located. Even 1 channel (called Nadi) when hit causes devastating effects
Similar to the Tamils tradition of 10 Nadis varma adi, there is a concept almost similar in Dim Mak, called the 10 Killing Hands.
The correct usage of 10 Nadi varma adi along with Amirtha Nilai varma adi combinatiobn, the Internal Organs of a person like heart, kidney, lungs etc would be seriously damaged
In Dim Mak, the concept of Ghost Hands, is similar to ther art of damaging the Internal organs
Main Importance in Varma Kalai is given to train the student in Chuvadu Murai, which means footwork movements to move fastly within a short range and/or long range for fight
There is a serious importance given for Footwork movements in Kung Fu as well.
Before taking up the art of Varma Kalai the student trains in Kuthu Varisai, Adimurai, Pidimurai etc
Before taking up Dim Mak, the student trains in any style of Shaolin Kung Fu
Advanced Varma Kalai practitioners would be familiar with Nokku Varmam and Meitheenda Kalai
Advanced Dim Mak practitioners would be familiar with The Chi Transmission System

Now, we are going to see the similarities between Varma Kalai of Tamil Nadu and Kyusho Jutsu of Japan.
VARMA KALAI
KYUSHO JUTSU
Varma Kalai of Tamil Nadu describes 108 vital pressure points in the Human Body
Kyusho Jutsu also describes the same 108 vital pressure points
Varma Kalai makes use of Amirtha Nilai (Nectar placement) to hit the vital spots to get maximum effects
Kyusho Jutso makes use of Centerline principle and atemi waza concepts in its martial arts applications
Certain Varma Kalai points are triggered and makes the opponent unconscious by tapping two different spots simultaeneously
Kyusho Jutsu also makes use of Double Tap Pressure Points
Varma Kalai causes immediate affecton the victim, which later will have a deadly effect on the victim
Kyusho Jutsu also will have immediate effect on the opponent, but it is not dedly
Varma Kalai Martial Art gives much importance to Chuvadu Murai (Footwork Movements)
Kyusho Jutsu also gives primary importance to Tai Sabaki (Footwork Movements)
Before taking up the art of Varma Kalai the student trains in Kuthu Varisai, Adimurai, Pidimurai etc
Before taking up the art of Kyusho Jutsu, the student trains in Karate
Varma Kalai makes use of Kuthu Kattai stick to cause devastating pain and/or death
Kyusho Jutsu practitioners make use of Kubotan or Yawara stick, wich was developed from Kuthu Kattai stick
Advanced Varma Kalai practitioners would be familiar with Nokku Varmam and Meitheenda Kalai
Advanced Kyusho Jutsu practitioners would be familiar with KO or No Touch Knock Out System

THUS, IT IS VERY EVIDENT THAT THESE ARTS WERE DERIVED FROM THE TRADITIONAL TAMIL SIDDHARS ART OF VARMA KALAI

THERE IS ANOTHER ART IN INDIA, WHOSE PRACTITIONERS CLAIM THAT THEIR ART IS THE MOTHER OF ALL MARTIAL ARTS.

I THINK THIS ARTICLE HAS DEBUNKED THEIR CLAIM

THE NAME OF THE OTHER ART IS CALLED KALARIPAYATTU.

HOW MARTIAL ARTS WENT FROM THE PANDIYAN KINGDOM TO CHINA AND JAPAN?

Mostly, when the practitioners of Kalaripayattu claim that their art is the Mother of All Martial Arts, they point out ONLY to Bodhidharma.

I REALLY PITY THEIR IGNORANCE, AS DURING THE DAYS OF BODHIDHARMA THERE WERE NO PRACTITIONERS OF KALARIPAYATTU.

BODHIDHARMA WAS THE SON OF A PALLAVA KING, WHICH BELONGED TO THE TAMILS. THE KANCHI CITY, AS DESCRIBED IN THE CHINESE SCROLLS OF BODHIDHARMA REFERS TO THESE TWO CHARACTERS    "香至
TSUTOMO KAMBE, A JAPANESE RESEARCHER FOUND IN THE SCROLLS AND HAS REVEALED THAT THE TWO CHINESE CHARACTERS THAT REFER TO BODHIDHARMA'S PLACE OF BIRTH AS "KANG" AND "CHEE" WHICH HE LATER CLARIFIED AS KANCHI CITY.

IT IS ALSO TO BE NOTED THAT KANCHI CITY WAS THE CAPITAL OF THE PALLAVA KINGDOM, WHICH WAS RULED BY THE TAMIL KINGS.

IN FACT, EVEN THE STATE IN WHICH KALARIPAYATTU IS PRACTICED TODAY - - KERALA, DID NOT EVEN EXIST DURING THE DAYS OF BODHIDHARMA.

REMEMBER -- KERALA IS JUST 60 YEARS OLD, NOW....!!!!

NOW, leave out Bodhidharma for a while.

It was before 500BC that Siddhar Bhogar took Martial Arts like Kuthu Varisai and Siddha and Varmam Medicine to China, which later developed into Accupressure.

Siddhar Bhogar also introduced the art of Varma Ponoosi method (method of stimulating the pressure points using a Golden Needle on the Pressure Points, which is still practiced in Tamil Nadu.

THIS ART WAS ADOPTED BY THE CHINESE IN THE NAME OF ACUPUNCTURE.

Even today, the Acupuncture doctors can get the correct point only by fluke (by poking the needles by 10 - 20 in a line)
BUT, Varma Kalai practitioners can get the Ponoosi (Golden Needle) to the right point to cure the disease.

After Siddhar Bhogar, it was a Kshatriya of Tamil Nadu, named Guna Varmar, who later took martial arts from Tamil Nadu to China during 320 AD, almost 200 years before Bodhidharma

At the turn of 5th Century AD, Bodhidharma took Martial Arts and Zen Buddhism to China.

BODHIDHARMA DID NOT TEACH THE CHINESE THE FULL ART OF VARMA KALAI, AS HE KNEW THAT CHINESE WOULD MISUSE THE KNOWLEDGE OF THIS ART.

LATER WHEN BODHIDHARMA TRAVELED TO JAPAN, HE TAUGHT THE JAPANESE ABOUT THE REMAINING PORTION OF THE PRESSURE POINT ARTS, WHICH HE HAD HID FROM THE CHINESE.

THUS WERE THE DIM MAK OF CHINA  AND KYUSHO JUTSU OF JAPAN DEVELOPED.

BUT...--...THE ORIGINAL KNOWLEDGE OF THE ANCIENT 50,000 YEAR OLD VARMA KALAI IS STILL PRESERVED AND PRACTICED ONLY IN TAMIL NADU.

MY FOLLOWING ARTICLES WOULD BE EXPOSING
  1. HOW THE NINJAS WERE TRAINED BY THE PANDIYAN KINGDOM SOLDIERS FOR THE SECOND WORLD WAR
  2. HOW CHINESE KUNG - FU (NOT ONLY SHAOLIN) WAS DEVELOPED FROM KUTHU VARISAI
  3. HOW KARATE (ESPECIALLY OKINAWAN) WAS DEVELOPED FROM VARMA KUTHU VARISAI
AND SO ON.. AND ON.. AND ON..

STAY TUNED READERS....!!!!

NO TOUCH KNOCK OUT OR NOOKU VARMAM AND MEITHHENDA KALAI : REAL OR FAKE - WITH GEORGE DILLMAN, HARRY THOMAS (TOM CAMERON), YANAGI RYUKEN, KIAI RYUKERIN, JUKKU LAMPILA VS AASAAN RAJENDRAN (MADURAI), AND AASAAN PRAKASAM (KOLLAM)

Well, for a while the superior art of NO TOUCH KNOCK OUT has caught the attention of ALL THE WORLD.

While those who practice Martial Arts like Boxing, Kickboxing, Wrestling, Muay Thai, MMA, UFC etc have asked people to prove the existence of such an art, while, on the other hand, people who practice Shaolin Kung Fu and Okinawan Karate believe that this art exists and search for real teachers to learn this art.

THE NAKED TRUTH IS "THE ART OF NO TOUCH KNOCK OUT REALLY EXISTS -- BUT..,, ONLY IN TAMIL NADU, INDIA -- AND NO OTHER PLACE IN THIS WORLD".

WELL - A BOLD CLAIM -- OTHER PEOPLE WHO PRACTICE THIS NO TOUCH KNOCK OUT MAY COME FOR A COMPETITION AGAINST US TO CHECK OUR TAMIL'S AUTHENTICITY...!!!!

THE ABOVE CLAIM IS ALSO FOR PEOPLE WHO "LITERALLY DON NOT BELIEVE IT - BOXERS, KICK-BOXERS, WRESTLERS, MUAY THAI PRACTITIONERS, MMA, UFC etc.

I WILL BRIEF ABOUT IT IN THE NEXT FEW LINES.

Some of the famous practitioners of this No Touch Knock Out Martial Arts are:

  1. George Dillman
  2. Harry Thomas (Known as Tom Cameron)
  3. Yanagi Ryuken
  4. Ryukerin (Kiai Master)
  5. Jukku Lampila
  6. Yellow Bamboo School of Martial Arts
Some of these people have been interviewed in popular TV channels. The sad thing to know was, these No Touch Knock out masters were able to perform their powers on their own students, but their powers failed to work on strangers, who did not know the No Touch Knock Out Masters before.

One of the viral videos to prove that the No Touch concept is a fake is given below.  Here's the video for you.
George, then finally gives a couple of statement that this No Touch concept could be nullified. This shows that George's art is NOT COMPLETE without a certain concept.

The next viral video on the net regarding the No Touch concept is the KIAI Master of Japan vs a MMA Master. Here's the video for you.
The POWER of these Masters are REAL. BUT... the problem is that they don't know to APPLY THESE SKILLS ON A STRANGER.

Well, coming back to the topic. These arts went to the Western and Eastern Countries from ==THE PANDIYAN KINGDOM OF THE SOUTH==.

TODAY, THE PANDIAN KINGDOM IS CALLED AS TAMIL NADU IN INDIA.

In Tamil Nadu, there is an Art called ==MEITHEENDA KALAI== AND ==NOKKU VARMAM==

These arts are said to be the real arts of No Touch Knock out.

These arts are still practiced in Tamil Nadu today, especially in the Southern districts of Madurai, Nellai, Tuticorin and Kanyakumari districts.

I AM NOT GOING TO GIVE YOU A TUTORIAL ON THIS SUBJECT OF NOKKU VARMAM OR MEITHEENDA KALAI. I AM GOING TO SHOW YOU SOME EXPERIMENTS TAKEN ON AND SOME DEMONSTRATIONS OF THIS 12,000 YEAR OLD ART OF SIDDHARS.

IT IS NO MIRACLE, BUT SCIENCE.
This 12,000 year old secret, still survives today in the southern most parts of Tamil Nadu.

BUT, there are only 2 Great Masters, who have shown both these arts to the outside world, for the Glory of the Ancient Pandiyan Dynasty. They are.
  1. Asan Rajendran, Madurai and
  2. Asan Prakasan, Kollam.
Both these people, Master Rajendran from Madurai and Master Prakasan from Kollam have proved the powers and science of this REAL "NO TOUCH KNOCK OUT SYSTEM" not only on their students, but also on strangers who did not believe in these powers, but came to test these Aasaans.

The No Touch Knock Out concept of Tamil Nadu can be divided into 4 categories. they are:
  1. Choondu Varmam or Sundu Varmam (No Touch Knock out by pointing Index Finger)
  2. Oothu Varmam (No Touch Knock out by Blowing on the Targets vital spots)
  3. Nokku Varmam (No Touck Knock out with Eye Power) and
  4. Meitheenda Kalai (Advanced Nokku Varmam - the target need not be in sight for performing this)
The first video shows Dr. A.K. Prakasan Aasaan performing Sundu Varmam, Oothu Varmam and Nokku Varmam. Here's the video for you below.
In this video, Dr. Prakasaan demonstrates and explains clearly how he learnt this art by searching for REAL aasaans among the Siddha doctors. Dr. Prakasan has come to Tamil Nadu, especially in Kanyakumari he has met many aasaans and learnt this art.

Nokku Varmam by another master here:
The viewers can judge themselves by looking at these videos, as to whether they are REAL or FAKE.

Now comes another Nokku Varmam Master from Chennai, Master Kathivel who can freeze his opponent like a stone of Ice.

FINALLY -- THE GREATEST AND THE MOST DIFFICULT PERSON TO FIGHT WITH ON EARTH -- MASTER R.RAJENDRAN, MADURAI--.

Master Rajendran with Kamal Hassan, who trained Kamal for the film Indian (Hindustani)
Master Rajendran was the person who trained Kamal Hassan for demonstrating the Art of Varma Kalai in the Tamil Film "INDIAN", also translated to Hindi in the name "HINDUSTANI".

Master Rajendran is the Chief Grand Master of MANJA VARMAKKALAI, MADURAI.

Now, before I explain about him in detail, I would first show you some of his performances of Nokku Varmam and Meitheenda Kalai.

Here are the videos for you.

This is a documentary of Nokku Varmam by Manja Varmakkalai, Madurai

Nokku Varmam performance of Master Rajendran on a stranger

The below videos show Master Rajendran performing Advanced Nokku Varmam, also known as Meitheenda Kalai - where the target person is out of sight.
The next level of Maitheenda Kalai, where the target person is in a totally different location
Now, the ULTIMATE MEITHEENDA KALAI -- From India to Other Continents--

That's an amazing collection of videos.

BUT STILL, I'M SURE THAT SKEPTICS WOULD NOT BELIEVE IN THIS.

SO, A WARNING TO THOSE WHO WOULD LIKE TO CRITICIZE -- DON'T PLAY WITH FIRE -- IT CAN COOK, IT CAN ALSO BURN YOU TO DEATH--

THOSE WHO WOULD LIKE TO TEST THE SKILLS OF REAL NOKKU VARMAM AND MEITHEENDA KALAI ARE ALWAYS WELCOME TO DO SO. COME TO INDIA - TAMIL NADU - MADURAI. IN VIRATTIPATTU ASK FOR MASTER RAJENDRAN AND TEST HIM.

MANJA VARMAKKALAI TEAM IS THE ONLY TEAM WHO ARE ALSO OPEN TO FIGHTING WITH ANY MARTIAL ARTISTS. BE IT KUNG - FU, KARATE, TAEKWON DO, MUAY THAI, BOKATOR, VALE TUDO BJJ, JUDO, MMA, UFC, KALARIPAYATTU, ANGAMPORA ETC.

THE MANJA VARMAKKALAI TEAM ARE THE ONLY ONES WHO COULD SPAR WITH ANY STYLE OF MARTIAL ARTISTS.

IN INDIA, THEY HAVE WON ALL THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF MARTIAL ARTS - TRADITIONAL INDIAN, EASTERN AND WESTERN MARTIAL ARTISTS HAVE FOUGHT WITH MANJA VARMAKKALAI TEAM AND WERE DEFEATED.

MMA AND UFC COMPETITIONS ARE AFRAID OF MANJA VARMAKKALAI TEAM

MOST OF THE OPEN TOURNAMENTS IN INDIA HAVE BANNED MANJA VARMAKKALAI FROM ENTERING THE COMPETITIONS

THEY HAD APPEALED TO THE OLYMPIC GAMES, WHO NEVER CALLED THEM AGAIN, PROBABLY THEY'RE AFRAID TOO.

IN KERALA, ONCE THERE WAS AN OPEN TOURNAMENT CONDUCTED IN THRISSUR, WHERE THE MANJA VARMAKKALAI STUDENTS DEFEATED ALL MARTIAL ARTISTS AND ALL KALARIPAYATTU PRACTITIONERS WHO TOOK PART IN THE OPEN KNOCK OUT COMPETITION THERE.

THE OPEN KNOCK OUT TOURNAMENT MEANS - A DO OR DIE MATCH.

EITHER YOU WIN THE MATCH OR DIE IN IT OR RESIGN. ALL THOSE WHO SPARRED WITH MANJA VARMAKKALAI STUDENTS RESIGNED THE MATCH.

IN THE NEXT COMPETITION, AT THE SAME PLACE IN THRISSUR, AFTER SEEING THE MANJA VARMAKKALAI TEAM, THE ORGANIZERS WITHDREW THE TERM "OPEN KNOCK OUT TOURNAMENT" AND MADE IT A SPORTS MATCH.

THOSE WHO WOULD LIKE TO TEST MANJA VARMAKKALAI CAN SEND THEM AN INVITATION TO YOUR HOME COUNTRY, OR YOU MAY COME DIRECTLY HERE TO MADURAI AND TEST THEM

THIS IS A BOLD CLAIM THAT NO MARTIAL ARTS STYLIST COULD EVER MAKE IN THE WHOLE WORLD TILL NOW

BEWARE OF..... MANJA VARMAKKALAI...!!!!
