In Sanskrit Literatures, the Bhagavadha Purana and Skanda Purana speaks much about the Landmass South of Kanyakumari called Kumari kandam
The Chinese Chronicles speaks about the Pahruli river, Peru river and Meru Mountains (with 49 peaks) from where the Kumari river, Peru river and Pahruli river actually originated (according to Tamil Sangam Literatures)
During the days when Kumari Kandam existed, the Chinese were employed as labourers by the Pandyan Kings; and when they went down the mines, they appeared like Huge Army of Ants
Therefore they were called as Goldmining Ants (Pon-thondi Erumbukkal in Tamil).
THESE FACTS ARE ALSO CONFIRMED BY THE CHINESE CHRONICLES...!!!!
There is also an Old Proverb in Tamil that says Even a crow in the Meru Mountains is made of Gold.

Since the Pandyan Tamil Kings employed the Chinese as labourers to work on their field, there are many temples in Tamil Nadu that has been depicting the Relationship between Tamils and China
MEGASTHANES (350 BC - 290 BC), A Greek Ethnographer and Exploreer in the Hellinistic Period, authored the work "INDIKA", the account of his travel works in India.

KUMBALAI (AS A GROUP) + MARIPADHAI (BEING DEAD) AND KANDA (SEEN) + IDAM (PLACE)
Now, taking the underlined terms, we get
KUM+MARI AND KANDA+IDAM = KUMARI AND KANDAM = KUMARI KANDAM
But, for any person claiming these terms to be Sanskrit terms, could not prove that with the Etymology of these names
KUMARI KANDAM is the place where lots of Tamils were destroyed or dead by natural catastrophic events. People who saw this destruction and the destruction of the landmass of Tamils, described it as KUMARI KANDAM
The other Etymology for the term KUMARI KANDAM, is that, it is the land of KUMARAN (Tamil God, Murugan). It is believed that this is the place where he met VALLI, his consort. Thus,
KUMARI (Feminine of Kumaran) + KANDA IDAM= KUMARI KANDAM
INTRODUCTION:
KUMARI KANDAM is a submerged landmass, that existed till recently to the South of what is now called as Kanyakumari (Cape Comerion), the southern tip of India. Research Scholars who have made research on Kumari Kandam, claim that it extended from Kanyakumari in the North to Australia in the South East and Madagascar Islands in the South West.
SOME RESEARCHERS WITHOUT DOING ANY RESEARCH JUST SAY IT IS A MYTH, BUT THEY COULD DO A RESEARCH AND THEN PROVE THAT IT IS A MYTH, RATHER THAN SIMPLY CONCLUDING IT AS A MYTH.
While investigating this matter, you can be sure of many promising leads. You could obviously conclude that a submerged landmass actually existed to south of today's Kanyakumari.
Locals in Kanyakumari believe that KANYAKUMARI, was like what is like HIMALAYAS TO INDIA, NOW.

KUMARI KANDAM IN TANAKH (THE OLD TESTAMENT OF THE HOLY BIBLE:
There are two instances in the Bible, where there is a mentuion of Flood destroying the Landmass, the first place is indirectly mentioned and the second time it is directly mentioned.
In Genesis, Chapter 1, verses 1 -2 it says:

- In the Beginning, God created the Heaven and the Earth
- And the Earth was without form and void, and darkness was upon the Face of the Deep; And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the deep.
In the original Hebrew Language, verse 1, is actually known as; IN THE BEGINNINGS (with a S, as a pluiral form), which refers to the Infinity past.
It says that the place was without form and without void.

This land area is without form and void.. Then what the Bible says is, (in verse 2) The spirit of God moved upioon the face of the deep.
When God's spirit moved on the face of the Waters, that means it troubled the waters to come beyond its boundry and destroy the lands which were without form and void shape.
Bible Scholars believe that in between verse 1 and 2 of Genisis , Chapter 1, there was a lot of years gap.
When these waters rose up beyond their level, they encroached some landmass and theere were some remaining landmass of this Kumari Kandam.
THE PERIOD OF FIRST TAMIL SANGAM IS SAID TO BE BETWEEN THE PERIOD WHEN THE EARTH WAS WITHOUT FORM AND VOID AND WHEN THE SPIRIT OF GOD MOVED UPON THE FACE OF THE DEEP.
According to Jewish Apocrypical Texts, the place where Lucifer fell off from Zion (The Highest Place in Heaven, where GOD Himself resides) is the place where Lucifer Himself taught the following arts to the people, whom God created in His own Image.

KUMARI KANDAM IN GREEK LITERATURES:
MEGASTHANES (350 BC - 290 BC), A Greek Ethnographer and Exploreer in the Hellinistic Period, authored the work "INDIKA", the account of his travel works in India.
In this work he explains that "THAPROBANE" (Old name of Sri Lanka) was separated from Mainland India (especially Tamil Nadu) by a River, which actually means that Sri Lanka was connected to Tamil Nadu by a landmass inbetween and that there was no difference between Tamil Nadu and Sri Lanka during the days of Megasthanes, but was just divided from Tamil Nadu by TAMIRABARANI (PORUNAI) RIVER.

Ancient Pottery dating to 4th Century BC have been discovered offshore by Marine Archaeologists, East of this town. The timeline of this Tsunami also coincides with the timeline (after the period of Megasthenes visit to India) of the submergence of a landmass which existed between Tamil Nadu and Sri Lanka.
The Geological Survey reveals that most of the places in the land under the sea, where Kumari Kandam is said to have existed, has the maximum depth of the sea level at 200 meters. In certain places alone there are more than 200 meters depth. This reveals that there has been a now submerged landmass in which people people have lived.
